What Is the Difference Between Full and Partial Dentures?When you need a full arch of teeth replaced (all of the teeth on the top or bottom of your mouth), full dentures are a great choice. These feature replacement teeth set in a gum-colored mold that fits snugly over your real gums, instantly giving you a set of beautiful, working teeth. But not everyone needs a full arch of teeth replaced. Sometimes, you are just missing three or four teeth. That is where partial dentures come in handy. These will only replace the teeth that are gone, and they can be held in place by clasps attached to your natural teeth. Both full and partial dentures options can be removed for easy cleaning at night.

What Are Temporary Dentures Used For?
At Appalachian Dental Care, we do not want anyone walking out of here with a large gap in their smile. It can take a little while to craft the replacement teeth for your denture, so while that is happening, we can provide temporary denture. These will let you get back to smiling and eating like you should be able to.

Don’t Dentures Fall out Sometimes?
Between the shape of the mold holding the replacement teeth and the adhesive used, dentures usually stay put until you decide to take them out. But it is true that sometimes dentures can move in your mouth or even come out when you are not ready. There are two ways we can help dentures stay put:

• Implant-retained dentures use special dental implants to hold onto the dentures. A ball-and-socket system holds denture securely, but they can still be removed for easy cleaning.
• Implant-supported dentures also uses special dental implants, but they attach permanently using a curved bar.

Can I Get My Dentures the Same Day I Visit the Office?
Normally, it takes a while before your dentures are ready to be placed. For example, some patients need healing time if they are getting implant-retained dentures. At our dental office, we can provide same-day dentures to quickly give you the replacement teeth your mouth needs. Our dentist will discuss this option with you during your initial consultation.
