Eating does more than keep us alive. Many times, it’s a way for the family to get together and talk. When we want to celebrate, we go out and get something nice to eat. And then there are times when we’ve had a bad day and just need some comfort food, stuff we ate growing up. All of that requires a full set of healthy teeth to do right. So when you’re missing one, a few, or all of your teeth, you’re missing out on more than just food. You’re missing out on talking, celebrating, and comforting yourself. That’s why we offer restorative dentistry treatments at our Boone, NC dental office.
Dental Crowns & Bridges
Cavities can often be repaired with a tooth-colored filling, or even an inlay or onlay, depending on where that cavity is sitting on the tooth. But if you have a large cavity, or if a tooth has been damaged and might crack open, you need a CEREC crown. These caps look and feel like normal teeth. They are placed over the damaged tooth, protecting it while giving it back some strength and durability.
And if you’re missing a tooth, a pair of crowns can hold a replacement tooth in that space using a dental bridge. It’s a fast, noninvasive way to keep your teeth all there, so you can eat normally again.
Speaking of missing teeth, if you’ve ever tried to eat corn on the cob or a juicy fall apple without all of your teeth, you know how hard that can be. Besides, that empty space in your smile can let food particles build up so harmful bacteria thrive, potentially leading to gum disease. Dental bridges can work, but a more permanent and durable option is the dental implant. Real teeth have roots that go into the jawbone, so a dental implant has a replacement tooth connected to an artificial root that’s surgically placed in your jawbone. Not only can you eat like normal, but that artificial root helps keep your jawbone healthy.
Implants & Dentures
Of course, some of you might be missing all of the teeth on the top, bottom, or both. In those cases, we offer dentures that replace all of those teeth. But if you’re worried about dentures sliding around in your mouth, our implant-supported and implant-retained dentures can help. Instead of using an adhesive to stick to your gums, they are held in place by small implanted artificial roots.
If you’re missing teeth, then you’re probably also missing out on celebrations, family time, and some real good food. With crowns, implants, and dentures, you can get all your teeth back and start eating like you used to when you were younger.
