Everyone deserves the best care that modern dentistry has to offer. That’s true in big cities like New York City, and it’s true in Boone, NC, too.
We’re happy to say that you can find advanced dentistry right here at Appalachian Dental Care. As two great examples of this, we offer dental implants, and we use platelet-rich plasma to speed up your recovering after oral surgery (such as implant placements).
Keep reading to learn more about how these advanced procedures could help you or someone you love. Or call 828-355-5673 to set up an appointment to find out how you can benefit from them.
Like Having a Brand New Set of Teeth
You may remember losing your primary teeth as a child. Most parents find this amusing, although kids’ reactions vary widely.
When you lose teeth as an adult, it’s not nearly as entertaining. You aren’t getting a new set of teeth after your permanent teeth are gone.
At least, that used to be the case.
Sure, you could get traditional dentures, but they are missing a key component that makes your healthy teeth so secure. Dentures don’t have roots. They aren’t embedded in your jaw, and that’s why traditional dentures can slip and slide so much while they are in your mouth.
To replace your teeth with something that nearly matches what real, healthy teeth can do, you need to start with a stable foundation. That’s what dental implants are.
Modern implants have been designed to replace the roots of lost teeth. Like roots, implants are placed directly into your jawbone. Because implants are made of titanium, your jawbone will bond directly to your implants through a process called osseointegration.
We can then attach your dentures to your implants. This makes them strong and secure. It will allow you to have a natural-looking smile and (maybe more importantly) allow you to eat the foods that you love once again.
Teeth Replacements in One Day?
It is possible at Appalachian Dental Care. We offer an advanced implant placement technique we call Same-Day Smile.
With a standard implant placement, you may have to wait for months before your jaw has healed enough to support a set of dentures. Wouldn’t you rather get your implant-supported dentures as soon as possible?
With the Same-Day Smile approach, we place a special kind of implant using a specific placement technique so your jaw can begin supporting your tooth replacements that same day.
You can walk out of our office with a natural-looking smile and the ability to eat solid foods. As you heal, your jaw will get stronger. But you won’t have to spend months living without “teeth”.
Call us today if you’d like to schedule a time to talk to Dr. Airey about whether Same-Day Smile is right for you.
Helping Yourself Heal (Sort of)
Your body will need time to recover after any kind of oral surgery, be it an implant placement, a bone graft, or something else. The old way of doing this is resting and taking medication to alleviate pain.
Those may still be part of your post-op process, but we also are one of the few dentist offices offering a technique that has become common in other health fields. It starts with you — more specifically, it starts with a sample of your blood. Platelets help clotting to occur.
Using your own blood, we use that sample to make a blood mixture with a high concentration of platelets. When this is applied to the site of your oral surgery, it helps your body heal and reduces the time needed to recover from your procedure.
