Like most people, those of us at Appalachian Dental Care don’t really appreciate back seat drivers. However, we feel comfortable dispensing this piece of automotive advice: DON’T pull your kid’s loose tooth with a car. Amazingly, using a car is just one of many unconventional methods for pulling teeth that we’ve seen online.
Some of us may have experienced getting a tooth pulled by tying it to one end of a piece of string with the other end tied to a doorknob; the tooth popped out when the door was closed.
That method seems downright quaint these days, with folks using Nerf guns, quadcopters, and even a pet parrot to remove a kid’s loose tooth. Though these methods may get the job done, a simple and more direct method is far less likely to go wrong. Gently grasp your kid’s loose tooth with a tissue and squeeze. Watch this video from the American Dental Association for more details. Using anything else is just a bad idea.
We’re happy to help any way we can! Call 828-355-5673 to bring your child in to our Boone, NC dentist office for an exam. We can pull loose teeth for you, and we can ensure that permanent teeth are coming in as they should.
