In a highly digital world, your smile counts for a lot. Job recruiters and potential business connections are all keeping an eye out online for their next great hire or partnership.
That means that even more than anything else — the content you share on Facebook or a great Twitter bio — people’s first impressions are formed by your profile picture and other photos you share online. And whether or not it’s fair, your smile shapes people’s perception of you. In a recent survey commissioned by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, a quarter of respondents said they equated flawed smiles with a lack of confidence!
That’s why an investment in high-quality cosmetic dentistry is an investment in your future success. When you partner with Dr. Airey at Appalachian Dental Care in Boone, NC, you’ll come away with a beautiful new smile that bolsters your self-esteem and is sure to make a great impression.

If you’re looking for the most efficient way to fix a multitude of dental imperfections, dental veneers might be a great option for you. Dental veneers are thin but durable pieces of porcelain or zirconia that are custom-made to look like healthier, more aesthetically pleasing versions of your natural teeth. These dental veneers are then bonded to your teeth to hide dental imperfections such as:
- Cracked or chipped teeth
- Misshapen or oddly shaped teeth
- Alignment issues, such as small gaps between teeth
At Appalachian Dental Care, we’re proud to offer two types of dental veneers: all-porcelain and prep-less. All-porcelain dental veneers are essentially the “classic” dental veneer. They’re the thickest type of dental veneer, which makes them great for patients whose dental imperfections are very prominent. They’re a popular option because they’re stain-resistant and durable, lasting up to 15 years or longer with proper care!
Prep-less dental veneers are substantially thinner than the traditional porcelain dental veneers, so they require less preparation of the teeth. When you get all-porcelain dental veneers placed, the procedure requires removal of some of your enamel to accommodate the dental veneer. You most likely won’t feel any pain during this part of the treatment because there are no nerves in the enamel, but this preparation does make the placement of all-porcelain dental veneers irreversible.
How do you know which type of dental veneer is right for you? It depends on your needs and your lifestyle. But one thing’s for sure: Dr. Airey can help you find the course of treatment that’s perfect for you!
If you have a tooth that is chipped but isn’t sustaining serious damage and is otherwise healthy, tooth bonding might be all you need to repair the tooth. When you see Dr. Airey to have a tooth bonded, he’ll use a small amount of tooth-colored resin to fill in the missing part of your tooth or other dental imperfections.
It’s a quick and painless procedure. You’ll be able to walk out of our office with a beautiful, more complete smile!
Perhaps you’re self-conscious about an oddly shaped tooth. A dental veneer might be able to help conceal the abnormality, but if the problem is relatively minor, you might be able to correct the problem with a procedure called teeth recontouring. Essentially, this procedure removes small amounts of your enamel to change the shape, size, or overall appearance of your tooth.
It’s great for repairing small chips, smoothing out a rough tooth surface, or making small adjustments to the tooth.
Has years of consuming coffee, tea, or red wine left your teeth a dingy yellow or dull gray color? If so, nothing will more efficiently remove those stains than professional teeth whitening. At Appalachian Dental Care, we offer Opalescence at-home whitening trays. They look like mouthguards, custom-fitted to your teeth, that you fill with a whitening agent. The results will be much more efficient than anything you find in the store! Within just a few weeks, you’ll have a brilliant smile you’ll be excited to show off.
It’s important to note that teeth bleaching treatments, like those offered at our office or over-the-counter strips and gels, are only effective at removing stains on the outer layer of your teeth. If your discoloration is coming from the inside of your tooth — thanks to certain medications or trauma to the tooth — the only way to address the problem is to cover it up with a dental veneer or dental restoration.
