Most people welcome local anesthesia when getting a dental procedure, whether it’s a dental filling or a tooth extraction. It numbs your mouth, so you won’t feel any discomfort. They’re less happy with how it’s administered, via a needle. The sensation of a needle stick can be especially upsetting for a child.
As Dr. Airey explains in this video, we can use laughing gas to relax your child – or you – so that the needle won’t even be noticed. We administer laughing gas through a small mask worn over the nose. Unlike some other forms of sedation, it’s so safe we can give it to even young children. It takes effect quickly and wears off fast too, with no lingering grogginess or other effects.
