If you’ve got a family member graduating from high school or college, you want to give them a gift that will actually make a lasting difference in their lives. How about a new smile?
Whether their plans are for more schooling or entering the career world, a great-looking smile will increase their self-confidence in high-pressure situations like interviews. Not only that, but research has shown that a smile can actually help you recover from stressful situations. A recent graduate will experience plenty of excitement – but also plenty of stress – as they navigate through the first months of their “new” life.
Even better, your graduate will think of you fondly every time they see their new smile in a mirror!
Your Grad Has Options for Covering Smile Flaws
Depending on the types of flaws your grad would like to fix, we might recommend dental veneers or dental bonding. Veneers are thin shells of either porcelain or zirconia that we apply to the front surfaces of teeth to cover a wide variety of imperfections. They’re sometimes called “instant orthodontics” because of their ability to hide small gaps, crowded teeth, and minor misalignment. They can also correct chips, stains, and worn-down teeth.
Your graduate may even be a candidate for prepless veneers, which don’t require any removal of enamel before they are bonded to their teeth.
Unlike some practices, we can make veneers right in our Boone, NC dentist office using our CEREC system’s special 3D software. That means your grad won’t have to wait as long for them, and we can easily make any needed modifications without contacting an outside lab.
Another cosmetic dental treatment that can be used to conceal imperfections is dental bonding. This affordable procedure can be completed in a single appointment. Dr. Airey will apply thin layers of tooth-colored resin directly to teeth to make improvements in their appearance. Unlike veneers, bonding is reversible.
Small Cosmetic Dental Treatments Can Make a Big Difference
Even a small improvement in their smile can give your graduate a big boost in self-confidence. If their smile looks dingy due to surface stains, a professional teeth whitening treatment is all it will take to give their teeth a brighter look. We’ll make customized whitening trays they can use at home with professional-strength gel from Opalescence. The trays make it easy to apply the gel, which contains a higher concentration of whitening ingredients than drugstore whitening products.
Dr. Airey can also smooth rough or uneven edges from teeth with a recontouring treatment.
Your Grad Can Get Gorgeous Gums Too
Dr. Airey can also improve the look of your graduate’s gumline, whether they’ve got an excess of tissue that gives their smile an overly “gummy” look or their gums are receding. Either way, they’ll look better with the right balance between white teeth and healthy, pink gums.
Most of our cosmetic dental treatments are pretty painless. We’ll administer local anesthesia to numb your grad’s mouth, if needed. But if they experience dental anxiety or just want help staying relaxed throughout a procedure, they can also receive dental sedation. Either inhaled sedation (“laughing gas”) or an oral sedative usually works well for cosmetic dentistry procedures.
Of course, many people have no trouble relaxing in our Boone, NC dentist office, thanks to our massaging chairs. A neck pillow and blanket will make them even more comfortable.
