Hello and thank you for stopping by the online home of our Boone, NC dental office. We are here to help you keep your mouth clean and your smile looking great through every stage of life. But we are also standing by to help you through any urgent and unexpected dental situation you may have on your hands. That’s why, today, we want to talk about the best way to handle a dental emergency. Keep reading, and then be sure to follow up with our team to discuss your needs and schedule your visit. Don’t worry, most dental emergencies are not life-threatening, but they can be life-altering if you don’t take the proper steps to save your smile!
Stop The Bleeding
The sight of blood can make many folks freak out. So, we want you to always remember to stay calm. The first thing you will need to do is try to stop any bleeding. Apply pressure with clean gauze to stop the flow. If you can not stop the bleeding in a reasonable amount of time, come see us right away.
Save Any Knocked-Out Teeth
Carefully rinse off the dislodged tooth and try to place it back into the socket. Be extremely careful not to touch the root of the tooth at any time. The roots are very delicate and can be easily damaged, and they need to be intact to re-secure the tooth. By placing the tooth back into the socket, you are actually protecting the root of the tooth until you can see Dr. Airey.
Try To Collect Any Pieces
Collect any fragments from any teeth that have been broken and rinse them off. Then, place them in a cup or baggie with milk. This will keep them clean and safe until you can be seen at our Boone, NC dentist’s office.
Call Us To Schedule An Emergency Visit
